In late August of 2005, I walked this section as part of an 18 day hike starting at Highway 138 and ending at Mt. Hood. I walked the beginning of this section alone camping at Bobby Lake, Brahma Lake, and at a point roughly half-way between Dumbbell Lake and Elk Lake. My friend, Paul, joined me at Elk Lake Resort with a resupply of food and we continued together through the rest of the section, camping by Camelot Lake, Obsidian Falls, and Lava Camp Lake. This section had interesting and varied trail tread and scenery. The trail also goes by South, Middle, and North Sister as well as some smaller peaks. The relatively large number of photos below reflects the variations in trail tread, the beautiful lakes, and the three sisters with their volcanic surroundings. The photos are arranged in order as I shot them, going from south to north.
There was a relatively small burn area in this section.
