I completed this section in many small pieces. In May, 2004, I walked (southward) from Bouquet Canyon Road to Agua Dulce with my friend, Paul (no photos). In November, 2004, I walked (northward) from Bouquet Canyon Road to Lake Hughes Road with my friend, Shawn. In December, 2004, I walked (southward) from Cottonwood Creek bridge to Highway 138 with my nephew, Steve. In November, 2005, I walked (northward) from lake Hughes Road to Highway 138 with Switchback and Can’tQuit and then walked (northward) from Cottonwood Creek bridge to Tehachapi – Willow Springs Road with Can’tQuit. Finally, in December, 2005, I jogged (northward) from Tehachapi – Willow Springs Road to Highway 58 by myself. This section can be envisioned as three distinct parts: the hills from Agua Dulce to Highway 138, the western edge of the Mojave desert, and the Tehachapi Mountains. Consequently the scenery is quite varied; there are also significant changes within the southernmost section. There are also a number of windmill farms on the southern edge of the Tehachapis and in the northern part approaching Highway 58. Therefore, there are a large number of photos here when compared to some other sections. Also, walking this section in seasons other than summer, I had a much different experience than I would have had in summer. The section is mostly shadeless, and there are long dry stretches. The photos are arranged in south to north order.
