Milford Track

Early in the 20th century, a writer referred to the Milford Track as the most beautiful walk in the world. In January, 2002, Francia, my wife, and I walked the Milford Track as independent trampers. It certainly is the most beautiful walk that we have ever taken. Stop almost anyplace and turn slowly around and you have four picture postcard views! In addition to the scenic beauty, much of the track itself is manicured as well as any city park. This is especially true of the first part of the track. The first two days and the last day are largely level, while the third day includes a climb over McKinnon Pass. The first day follows the Clinton River valley upstream from Lake Te Anau.
